Diaspora Ensemble: Music of the Mediterranean

For this concert, the locally based Diaspora Ensemble will play music from Greece, Turkey, and the Balkans and songs from the Sephardic repertoire. Performers for this show are:
Leah Sirkin - violin, vocals
Tano Brock - clarinet, laouto, vocals
Zina Pozen - accordion, vocals
Joe Rosato - double bass
Steven Brock - tabla, kanjira, frame drum
Nicole Maria - dance, Middle Eastern percussion

CONCERT COST: Most tickets are about $28 to $34, including the venue's service fee. I also request a one dollar donation from Meetup RSVPers who can afford it, to defray the hefty fees that Meetup charges me as lead organizer.

TICKETS/SEATING: Buy your own tickets. General admission seating, mainly on folding chairs.

NOTE: This is a small venue; the discounted tickets will likely get snapped up fast.

WHEN/WHERE TO MEET: Unless joining me for dinner beforehand, meet out front of the Red Poppy by no later than 7:00 p.m., when the doors open. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and I expect it to go to 9:00 p.m.

HOW TO FIND ME: I'm WF, 5 feet tall, in my 60s, with short salt-and-pepper hair and glasses. I'll send my mobile number to RSVPers prior to the show.

OPTIONAL PRE-SHOW DINNER: At a Thai restaurant on 24th Street, a short walk from BART and the Red Poppy. The dinner table is limited to six people who don't have a history of no-shows and late cancellations.

TRANSIT/LOCATION: Located within an easy walk of 24th Street BART and assorted Muni bus lines. If you're driving, allow extra time for street parking!
